Possible Benefits of Breast Augmentation and Study Participation
Breast Augmentation is an elective cosmetic surgical procedure designed to provide both physical and psychological benefits. The physical benefits may include increased options and choices in selection and fit of clothing. Psychologically, the procedure may improve a woman’s self-esteem, sense of body image and quality of life. It is possible that breast augmentation will provide no benefits.
This study may benefit women in the future by providing long-term scientific information about the safety, efficacy and outcome of the IDEAL IMPLANT, a possible alternative to current saline-filled and silicone gel-filled implants, in women undergoing primary breast augmentation or replacement of their existing augmentation implants.
